Lois A. Jackson, D.D.S.

officepolicies

Dr. Lois Jackson is very experienced in pediatric dental care for children, adolescents and special needs patients.  She is a Barnard College Alumna, and attended the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.  After receiving her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. Jackson completed a General Practice Dental Residency at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Centre, where she learned to treat medically compromised patients as well as trauma victims.  In this year of post-graduate training, it became apparent that pediatric dentistry is the starting point for a life long understanding of the need for good oral hygiene.  Childhood is the best time to shape positive attitudes towards dental treatment; avoiding the fears and phobias about going to the dentist.   She decided to specialize in pediatric dentistry and returned to Columbia University, where she completed her training.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Jackson is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where she taught for many years.  Dr. Jackson is a past President of the Columbia College of Dental Medicine Alumni Association.  In 2009, she was a Columbia University Alumni Medalist, which is the highest alumni honor.

She is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Society and New York Academy of Dentistry. Dr. Jackson was elected to OKU, the dental honor society. Dr. Jackson also maintains memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, where she was on the Board of Trustees.  She is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, New York State Dental Association, New York State Association of Pediatric Dentists, Northeast Society of Pediatric Dentists and the Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentists.

Dr. Jackson is the President of The New York State Association of Pediatric Dentists.  She is local arrangements co-chairman for the 2011 Annual Session of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists.  She is a Past-President of The Northeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry.  To give back to the community, Dr. Jackson volunteers and supports numerous civic and cultural organizations. She is a Member of the Board of Directors for the Camp Brooklyn (sending children to camp), Flatbush Development Corporation, East Midwood Jewish Center and Fisk Terrace Neighborhood Association.
